THE BIBLE
We believe that the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments are the all-sufficient, truthful, and authoritative Word of God that the Holy Spirit gave without error through the work of men to reveal who God is, to guide all matters of faith and obedience, and to clarify his covenantal purposes culminating in Christ.
THE TRIUNE GOD
We believe that the one, true, and supreme God exists eternally in three persons–-the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit–-with each having distinct roles in creation and salvation but being eternally equal in divine essence and glory.
GOD THE FATHER
We believe that the first person of the Triune God created all things in the beginning out of nothing and is personal, infinitely powerful, and intimately involved in creating, sustaining, and directing everything in space and time. He has purposed all things according to his sovereign decree, and he saves all who come to him by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, his Son.
GOD THE SON, JESUS CHRIST
We believe that the second person of the Triune God was an agent in creation and took on human nature, was born of the virgin Mary, fulfilled every divine requirement in life, died as an atoning substitute, and rose from the dead to obtain redemption, the forgiveness of sins, and eternal life for all who trust in him. He now reigns with the Father, intercedes for his followers, and will return to judge the living and the dead.
GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the third person of the Triune God eternally proceeds from the Father and Son, was an agent in creation, effectually regenerates sinners, and fills and empowers each believer for godliness, service, and witness, all to the glory of Christ.
THE FALL
We believe that God created humans male and female in his image to display his glory by extending his rule over the rest of creation. The first couple was sinless, yet Adam, as covenant representative, wickedly rebelled against God's rule by surrendering dominion to the satanic serpent. This fall negatively affected all creation, making all people spiritually dead in a state of depravity that results in sin, ruin, and judgment.
REGENERATION
We believe that the Holy Spirit graciously applies Christ’s atoning work to elect spiritually dead sinners, resulting in spiritual life that transforms sinners into saints through repentance and saving faith and secures salvation from sin’s penalty, power, and presence.
JUSTIFICATION
We believe that, because of Christ’s resurrection, God the Father forgives the sins of those who repent and believe, legally declares them to be righteous by grace alone through faith alone based on Christ’s righteousness alone, and will affirm this verdict over his elect on the last day. Justified believers are true Christians.
PROGRESSIVE SANCTIFICATION
We believe that, because of Christ’s resurrection power, the Holy Spirit graciously satisfies believing saints and conforms them to the righteous character of Christ through their beholding his glory in the Word of God and through their faithful suffering. True Christians must and will battle sin by the Holy Spirit’s power and seek to obey the law of Christ by loving others until Jesus returns or calls them home.
THE CHURCH
We believe that all justified believers in every time and place, under Christ’s headship, make up the universal Church, which finds present expression in local churches––groups of Christians that officially and regularly gather in Christ’s name to worship the Lord and to make mature disciples by affirming and overseeing one another’s membership in Jesus Christ and his kingdom through gospel preaching, accountability and discipline, and the gospel ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s supper. Local churches represent imperfectly and incompletely Christ’s end- time gathering and should be led by elders, served by deacons, and congregationally governed.
BAPTISM
We believe that Jesus commands all believers to be immersed in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit to signify their membership in the Church by faith and to declare publicly their union with Christ in his death, burial, resurrection, and reign for the forgiveness of all their sins and the fulfillment of all his promises to them, even eternal life.
THE LORD'S SUPPER
We believe that Jesus commands the Church when gathered in its local assemblies to eat broken bread and drink the fruit of the vine regularly, both to remember Christ’s broken body and poured out blood and to confess the church’s faith in the sufficiency of Christ's atoning death, its unity with Christ’s Church universal, its willingness to separate from all that is evil, and its hope in Christ’s return.
THE NEW COVENANT IN CHRIST
We believe that through Christ’s redemptive and reconciling work God establishes a new and climactic relationship with his regenerated people that initiates a new creation, institutes Christ’s headship over all things, secures a hopeful future for his Church, and fulfills all previous covenants, types, prophecies, and promises in relation to forgiveness of sins, righteousness that pleases God, punishment of his enemies, and everlasting peace and fellowship with God.
HUMAN DIGNITY, SEXUALITY, MARRIAGE, AND FAMILY
We believe that all humans bear intrinsic and equal value as those made in God’s image and that every human life is valuable from fertilization to natural death. Biological maleness and femaleness are God-ordained and complementary by nature. Marriage is the union of one man and one woman in a life-long covenant commitment and is the only appropriate context for sexual desire and expression. God establishes marriage as a means for displaying the love between Christ and his church and as the proper context for procreating children, as God allows. The family is the primary context for educating children to know, love, and live for God and stands as the fundamental building block of a healthy society and God-honoring community. Singles should use their freedom to glorify God while they await the gift of marriage, recognizing that few in the Church receive the long-term gift of singleness.
NEW CREATION AT THE END
We believe that Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection inaugurated the last days, the Church, and the new creation and that the last days will culminate with the return of Christ in the flesh, the resurrection of all humanity unto righteous judgement, and the commencement of eternal wrath in the lake of fire for unbelievers and of eternal joy in the new heavens and earth for believers in the Lord Jesus.
