VALUES

In carrying out our mission, Sovereign Joy commits to prioritize the following God-glorifying values:

1. Treasuring Big God-and Big Gospel-Centered Theology:

We cherish our trinitarian God’s absolute holiness, sovereignty, and redemptive purposes climaxing in Christ as taught in his infallible, inerrant, and authoritative Word (Exod 15:11; 34:6–7; Deut 5:7; 6:4-9; Ps 19:7–11; Isa 6:3; Acts 20:27; Rom 11:33–36; 1 Cor 1:18, 23–24; 15:3–8; Eph 1:3–14; Col 1:16–20; 2 Tim 3:15–17; Tit 2:4–6).

2. Revering with Joy the Glory of Christ in Gathered Worship:

We magnify God together by prizing expositional preaching and big God-and big gospel-centered songs and prayers that balance gravity and gladness (Ps 95:1–3; Luke 4:43; Acts 10:39–43; Rom 1:15–16; 1 Cor 1:23–24; Col 1:27–29; 3:12–17; Phil 1:12–13; 1 Thess 5:16–18; 2 Tim 4:1–5; Heb 10:23–25; 12:28–29).

3. Prioritizing Healthy Baptist Church Structure:

We practice wholesome, consistent elder-led congregational ministry, ordinances, and discipline (Matt 18:15–17; 26:26–28; 28:18–20; Acts 6:2–4; 15:22; 20:28; 1 Cor 11:23–25; Eph 4:11–13; 1 Tim 3:1–13; Tit 1:5–9; Heb 13:7; 1 Pet 5:1–4).

4. Celebrating the Beauty of Biblically Defined Personhood and Sexuality:

We value every human life from fertilization as one made in God’s image and prize God’s design for marriage, family, sexual identity and expression, and male and female complementary roles (Gen 1:26–28; Deut 6:7; 10:17–19; 22:5; Ps 78:5–8; 139:13–16; Rom 1:26–27; 1 Cor 6:9–11; Eph 5:22–33; 6:1–4; 1 Thess 4:3–8).

5. Hungering for Holiness through Humble and Hopeful Purity, Dependence, and Love:

We are zealous for good works, pray always, persevere through suffering, and eagerly desire the spiritual gifts as we await Christ’s appearing (Ps 147:10–11; Luke 18:1; Rom 5:3–5; Gal 5:22–23; 6:1–2; Eph 2:10; 5:3–5, 15–21; Phil 2:12–13; Tit 2:11–14; 1 Cor 12:7–11; 14:1; 1 Thess 5:15–18; Heb 12:14; Jas 1:2–4; 1 Pet 1:3–9; 4:7–11; 5:6–11).

6. Mobilizing Leaders and Churches Both Locally and Globally:

We equip saints to cherish the gospel, persevere in faith, serve others in God’s strength, reach the lost, and teach others to obey Jesus so as to multiply mature disciples and churches near and far (Matt 28:19–20; Luke 4:43; 10:1–2; Acts 1:8; 10:42–43; Rom 1:16; 10:13–17; Eph 4:11–13; Col 1:24–29; 2 Tim 2:2, 15; 1 Pet 4:10–11).
